Bull Moose Strategy

We do the homework on every race we touch.

Bull Moose Strategy is a political digital services firm for Republican and Independent candidates who treat their campaigns like the high-stakes engineering projects they are.

The Name

Why "Bull Moose"?

In 1912, Theodore Roosevelt walked out of the Republican convention, stood in front of 16,000 people in Chicago's old Coliseum, and declared: "We stand at Armageddon, and we battle for the Lord." His new Progressive Party became known as the Bull Moose Party — after Roosevelt told a reporter he felt "as strong as a bull moose" after a would-be assassin's bullet stopped in his chest and he finished his speech anyway.

The Bull Moose campaign did not win that race. But it changed what American political campaigning looked like. Roosevelt brought data, direct voter outreach, and a willingness to compete on every platform available to him. He hired experts. He documented his methods. He refused to let the party machine substitute for actual voter contact. That is the lineage BMS borrows from.

Character over credential. Vigor over genteel. Fact over rhetoric. Citizen-led over machine-led. BMS works with candidates who earn their wins — not those waiting for the party to hand one to them.

The Founder

About Kelly Fitzgerald

Kelly Fitzgerald

Founder & Principal Strategist
Granville, Ohio · Est. March 2026

Kelly Fitzgerald is a US Marine veteran (OIF 2-2 / GWOT, 2004–05) and the founder of Bull Moose Strategy LLC, an Ohio political digital services firm established in March 2026. He brings a combat veteran's discipline to campaign operations: systematic planning, documented processes, measurable objectives, and zero tolerance for wasted resources.

His political philosophy is small government and fiscal responsibility, shaped by the thinking of Thomas Sowell, Milton Friedman, Ronald Reagan, and Theodore Roosevelt. He believes campaigns win on preparation and evidence, not on last-minute ad buys and guesswork.

BMS was built on the premise that down-ballot Republican and Independent candidates deserve the same analytical rigor and platform access that national campaigns and well-funded PACs take for granted. The strategy that helped a candidate win 70.45% of the vote on $1,119 in ad spend is the same strategy BMS scales to every client.

Kelly is a Knight of Columbus (Council 10876) and lives in Granville, Ohio with his wife Beth.

What We Believe

Operating Tenets

Not aspirational values — standing rules that govern how BMS builds, documents, and operates on behalf of every client.

01

Document everything.

No "magic" workflows. Every decision, every ad set, every targeting universe has a written record. If a future operator can't reconstruct it from the documentation alone, the documentation is incomplete.

02

Build the playbook before you scale.

A campaign is a time-boxed high-stakes project. Every deliverable is templated, every process is repeatable, every credential is backed up before a single ad launches.

03

Verify with FEC before sharing political claims.

Financial data, endorsement counts, and opponent records come from primary sources — FEC filings, official canvasses, certified voter files. Not press releases. Not opponent websites.

04

Memory over heroics.

Institutional knowledge lives in documented systems, not in any one person's head. BMS clients can audit exactly what was done and why — during the campaign and ten years after it ends.

05

Automate the boring so humans can focus on judgment.

Scheduled reports, auto-posting queues, cron-driven data pulls — these run without human intervention. The strategist's attention goes to creative decisions and voter outreach, not copy-paste busywork.

06

Flat fee. No incentive to inflate your spend.

BMS charges a flat consulting fee. Ad spend is billed directly by the platforms to the campaign committee. There is no financial benefit to BMS in recommending a bigger budget.
